My ongoing journey to build a thriving ecosystem for black and brown new energy founders in Louisiana has led me to cross paths with some truly incredible individuals. A remarkable group of partners, both within our city and across the state, are all united by a shared belief: when it comes to pulling together and getting things done, there's no place quite like Louisiana. Enter Britt Bowker, Director of Recruitment, from the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Our paths crossed at the H2TheFuture Summit. We decided to meet for lunch at one of our city's beloved local favorites, Lil Dizzy's. As we savored the scrumptious stuffed bell peppers, mac & cheese, greens, and yams, I couldn't help but be reminded of the unique spirit that runs through our city. The Baquet Family, who owns Lil Dizzy's, is a true testament to this spirit, having made their mark on the city with their previous venture, Eddie's on Oak Street, and now finding success in the Tremé neighborhood. Over the course of our meal, Britt and I exchanged stories about our personal connections to the city and the resilience it has displayed in the face of adversity. We also explored how this initiative could change the trajectory of Louisiana, creating opportunities that would encourage our brightest minds to stay right here at home. We envisioned a future where our best talents had the choice to remain in the state, contributing to a stronger, more vibrant community. At that moment, we couldn't have been prouder to be Louisianians and to play a part in shaping the economy and culture that define our state.
