Welcome to the EXEQ Channel
In 2000, Dr. Rodney Sampson became the first member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the first Black founder in the Southeastern United States to raise millions in venture capital for his linear streaming innovation via Multicast Media Technologies and Streaming Faith. In 2010, that company was acquired for $24 million. To ensure that other Black founders could follow in his path, OHUB was born.
Opportunity Hub (OHUB), co-founded in 2013 in Atlanta, GA by Drs. Rodney and Shanterria Sampson as a follow-up to the highly successful Kingonomics’ conferences in Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC grew to become the largest Black-owned multi-campus entrepreneurship center and technology hub in the United States definitively focused on diversity, inclusion and equity as a business development and investment thesis for the upskilling of in-demand technical talent, new high growth company building and innovative capital formation as a path to creating shared prosperity and multi-generational wealth creation for everyone, everywhere in the future of work, fourth industrial revolution and beyond. Each year, thousands of people learn, engage, build & work via the OHUB ecosystem.
OHUB has joined forces with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to launch EXEQ, an innovation, entrepreneurship and investment initiative for the brothers of the fraternity, during the 84th Grand Conclave. This collaboration includes presenting sponsorship of the Conclave and Official Omega Mixer, delivery of startup entrepreneurship and venture investment training for brothers this fall, access to OHUB's New Energy Technology Incubator and a $25,000 Come Get Good Startup Pitch Competition that will take place during Omega's 2024 Achievement Week.
To be eligible for the pitch competition, startups must be established as a for-profit Delaware C-corporation, have a financial member of the fraternity on their founding team and capitalization table and be working on a scalable business that is solving a very hard problem in industry, society or culture.
Interested innovators, entrepreneurs and investors can learn more about EXEQ at the Official Omega Mixer on Friday, June 28, 2024, 12P - 6P ET at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa, Florida or download the OHUB app to access the application form.
A team of judges from the fraternity will help select the winner that will receive the $25,000 investment.
On the heels of anti-DEI attacks against venture funds and grant making organizations like the Fearless Fund, OHUB and Omega Psi Phi are ensuring that capital, albeit small, continues to get to Black founders and beyond. This initiative also works to reclaim members of the fraternity by offering innovative opportunities to its members, their affiliated entrepreneurial ventures, expanded communities and beyond.
