Redefining Hunger Relief #ScaleBlack
🚨 On Day 14 of #ScaleBlack for #BlackHistoryMonth, we spotlight Jasmine Crowe-Houston, an award-winning social entrepreneur and Founder & CEO of Goodr—a blockchain-powered platform tackling food insecurity and food waste nationwide.
Before Goodr, Jasmine fed hundreds from her apartment, hosting weekly pop-up meals that served 500 people—all funded from her own pocket. When a 2016 viral video of her work spread online, people kept asking one question: Who donated the food? The answer was simple but powerful: She did—even while managing her own tight budget.
💡 This breakthrough moment sparked action—in 2017, she launched Goodr.
🍽️ A Smarter Way to Fight Hunger
In the U.S., 72 billion pounds of perfectly good food go to waste every year, costing $400B, while 54 million people struggle with food insecurity. Food waste in landfills fuels climate change, compounding the crisis. Goodr is proving that hunger isn’t about food supply—it’s about distribution. And some of their solutions could save the planet.
Goodr’s secure food tracking system ensures surplus food reaches communities transparently, efficiently, and sustainably, moving us toward a zero-waste economy.
This tech-first approach isn’t just changing lives—it’s attracted some serious investment including, $8M Series A led by Precursor Ventures, with Collab Capital, Emerson Collective, and Backstage Capital—bringing total funding to $9.4M.
🌍 Building a Zero-Waste Future
By redirecting 34 million meals to those in need and diverting 25 million pounds of food from landfills, Goodr has earned global recognition from Forbes, Fast Company, and CNN—demonstrating how tech-driven solutions can create meaningful social change.
🔥 #ScaleBlack is about innovation and disruption. Today, we celebrate Jasmine Crowe, one of just 35 Black women to raise over $1M in venture capital, for proving that tech and social good can go hand in hand—and most importantly, for making sure that everybody eats.
