Yale Juniors Raise $3.1M in 14 Days for New Social Platform
Yale juniors Nathaneo Johnson and Sean Hargrow have closed a $3.1M pre-seed round for Series — a new social network focused on "mutual value" over follower counts and likes.
Series isn’t just a platform — it’s a clear statement. Designed for people who bring something to the table and want to build with others who do the same.
“The problem of quantifying value online isn’t new — it started with Facebook in ’04. But it’s time for a new story,” said Johnson.
Backed by Lerer Hippeau, M13, and Banana Capital, and built in just two weeks, Series is:
🚫 Metrics-free (no likes or follows)
🧠 Algorithmically focused on alignment, not attention
🌐 Built for creators, founders, and thinkers who value real connections
“We’re 6’5”, Black, and technical — a direct foil to the Harvard story,” says Johnson. “That difference is why Series tells a new story.”
