Statement on the Legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.
⸝
Today, OHUB continues to pause its Black History Month campaign to once again recognize the mass-transformational work of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. His lifeâs work did not merely influence a generation. It reshaped the moral and economic expectations of a nation.
We also ask that you extend prayers and well wishes to Dr. Rodney Sampson, a mentee of Rev. Jackson and a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., whose leadership reflects the discipline and economic conviction cultivated under Rev. Jacksonâs mentorship and now carried forward into a new era.
For decades, Rev. Jackson challenged the nation to align its economic systems with its democratic ideals. Through the Wall Street Project and sustained advocacy, he compelled corporate and civic institutions to broaden access to capital, corporate governance, and ownership for communities denied equitable participation in the American marketplace.
This was a disciplined campaign of institutional reform that embedded hope within policy frameworks, ownership structures, and accountable economic outcomes.
It required courage. It required faith. It required leaders willing to convert conviction into architecture.
Keep Hope Alive was a mandate for structural change, urging the construction of economic systems where hope is reinforced by capital access, expanded ownership, and measurable results.
OHUB remains committed to advancing that mandate. We will continue building platforms that expand economic participation, strengthen ecosystems, and equip the next generation of founders and technologists to lead.
âOur dreams must be stronger than our memories.â
â Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.
