Gamifying Math & Science #ScaleBlack
🚀 Day 17 of #ScaleBlack for #BlackHistoryMonth highlights Edna Martinson & Clarence Tan, Co-Founders of Boddle Learning.
Math anxiety starts early. When traditional teaching methods fail to engage students, frustration grows, widening achievement gaps. Research shows that up to 50% of U.S. students experience math anxiety, with Black and Brown students disproportionately affected due to systemic inequities in education access.
💡 Edna Martinson and Clarence Tan set out to change that.
As co-founders of Boddle Learning, they built a free, AI-powered platform that uses 3D games to make math learning fun, adaptive, and interactive for K-6 students. Their mission? Close learning gaps, boost student confidence, and create a more engaging way for kids to develop essential STEM skills.
📊 Boddle's Impact Since 2020:
🔹 6M+ sign-ups nationwide
🔹 10,000 new users joining daily
🔹 2.5M+ students actively learning
💰 These successes have earned Boddle the confidence of investors, securing $3M in seed funding, led by Alpine Ventures, with additional backing from KCRise Fund, Lightship Capital, Atento Capital, and ACT Ventures—along with support from Pharrell Williams' Black Ambition initiative.
🔥 On Day 17 of #ScaleBlack, we celebrate Edna Martinson and Clarence Tan for their leadership and innovation in EdTech. Their commitment to making high-quality math education accessible for all is shaping the future of learning.
